The fourth ‘Connect4Mobility’ event, organised in partnership with EIT Urban Mobility and Sabancı University and coordinated by Fark Labs, took place in Izmir this year at IzQ Innovation Centre. As Tripy, we participated in the event organised with the theme of ‘Inclusive and Accessible Urban Mobility’.
As Tripy, we believe in the potential of electric bicycles to change the world. As a young car sharing platform founded a year and a half ago, we have become one of the fastest and most controlled growing mobility companies in Turkey. Our largest investor, MIA Technology, is one of the largest technology companies in Turkey and is traded on #BIST50.
We believe that the perception of car-centred design in cities should be broken. The driveway is our public space and we aim to make people look at transport from a different perspective. We are trying to change the car-centred mindset by expanding the use of bicycles in our cities.
We believe that bicycles will be the symbol of cities in the future. With this belief, we are working to develop bicycle infrastructures in our cities and encourage people to use bicycles. We cooperate with municipalities to increase bicycle lanes, expand parking areas and ensure safe driving conditions. These efforts aim to promote a healthier, environmentally friendly and sustainable transport culture in cities.
The benefits of Tripy include reducing traffic congestion and saving public health expenditures. By reducing traffic congestion by 4.4 per cent between 17.00-19.00, we saved around $1 million annually in public health spending. Even in large cities like Istanbul, a small reduction can significantly increase public savings.
Such data shows that electric bicycles provide great benefits not only on an individual but also on a societal level. Less traffic congestion, less air pollution and a healthier population are key elements of sustainable city living to which Tripy contributes. To achieve these goals, we encourage more people to use bicycles and work to create bicycle-friendly infrastructures in cities.
Fark Labs Founder Ahu Serter shared important points at the event. Emphasising how valuable it is to bring together stakeholders in Izmir, Serter stated that Tripy has just joined the Fark Labs family. She said that electric bicycles are a solution that will make cities breathe, reduce obesity problems and reduce our carbon footprint.
Stating that Tripy is not only limited to Turkey, but also aims to expand to Europe and America, Serter stated that Tripy aims to make cities more livable by offering sustainable transport solutions in the global arena. Serter’s statements reveal how broad and impressive Tripy’s vision is.
