On April 15, at Bon Vivant Pasaport in İzmir, Tripy took an important step toward shaping the future of cycling in the corporate world! We came together with the aim of transforming the role of bicycles in urban life and making organizations an active part of this transformation.
In the first part of the day, Light Eagle AG Founder and triathlete Onur Eren inspired us with his keynote titled “Life with Cycling (My Life).” Sharing moments from his own life story, he offered sincere observations on how cities can be transformed through cycling. He opened his speech by saying, “I am here to give back to cycling what cycling has given me,” emphasizing the important role cycling has played in his life. He also shared an emotional moment with us, saying, “Until today, no one had ever asked me to talk about cycling. Thank you…” He thanked Tripy and said, “Thank you for bringing 2,000 bicycles to our İzmir.”
The Sustainable Mobility Panel was moderated by Fark Labs Chief Growth & Opportunity Officer Selcen Uyguntüzel. During the panel, the speakers emphasized that bicycles are not merely a means of transportation, but also a powerful force in transforming urban culture and contributing to a more sustainable future. İzmir Institute of Technology Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran shared his experiences in sustainability with us. By saying, “Even a small candle that cannot benefit itself can still illuminate the darkness,” he highlighted the impact of small steps. He also shared how, following an accident during his childhood, his family became concerned about him cycling and spoke about the bond he developed with bicycles.
Arya and Fark Labs Founder Ahu Serter spoke about her long-standing connection with cycling and the power of bicycles to bring communities together. Stating that she believes bicycles are a genuine alternative to cars, Serter explained that this belief has also shaped her investments in micromobility. She strongly emphasized her support for Tripy’s role in revitalizing this culture.
Cevher Group CEO Oğuz Özmen shared the story of how he earned his first bicycle and explained how Tripy’s Corporate Membership has increased the importance of cycling in the corporate world. He also highlighted how the opportunities companies provide to their employees can contribute to urban culture.
At the end of the day, Tripy CEO Ali Onuralp Ünal shared how Amsterdam transformed into a bicycle-friendly city in response to public demand and explained how a similar transformation can be supported through the Tripy Corporate Membership Model. Through this model, companies can encourage bicycle use by providing ride credits to their employees, creating benefits for both individuals and cities. Ünal also invited organizations in İzmir to become part of this transformation, further increasing the excitement in the room.
The event concluded with a group bicycle ride along Kordon. As participants explored the city on electric bicycles, those experiencing e-bikes for the first time enjoyed the pleasure of cycling. The ride gave participants the opportunity to reconnect with childhood memories and rediscover their passion for cycling.
