On 17 September 2024, the ‘Pedal to University’ event organised by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality once again demonstrated the importance of sustainable transport in the city. The event was attended by Mayor Cemil Tugay and Virve Vimpari, Head of Green Development and Inclusive Growth Department at the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey. On this meaningful day, the participants tried out a healthy and environmentally friendly transport alternative by pedalling to the university.
At the event, Tripy made a difference with its shared electric bicycles. The modern and environmentally friendly electric bicycles provided by Tripy enabled the participants to overcome long distances with ease. ‘Pedal to University’ event was held as part of the European Mobility Week. European Mobility Week aims to create more livable and environmentally friendly cities by encouraging cycling and pedestrian transport in cities. The activities organised during this week aim to raise public awareness about sustainable transport and promote alternative transport methods.
This important week enables both individuals and organisations to support sustainable transport projects, while contributing to the achievement of long-term goals such as reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality. The ‘Pedal to University’ event organised by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality was a successful example of encouraging young generations to choose environmentally friendly transport options.
